Week 170

This week fas been about the stethoscope project. Data collection on Wednesday loomed over the week. Two cameras, two charging packs, six folders of ethics and consent documentation and I took a drive up the range to Toowoomba hospital to observe and record anaesthetic preadmission clinics. What we’re most interested in is the role stethoscopes play in consultations as we’re part of a team that us going to create a digital stethoscope for videoconference consultations.

This week I also sat on my first PhD confirmation panel. Jan Seeburger’s work aims to provoke new kinds of engagement in public spaces through mobile and location-based technologies. The panel confirmed Jan with no hesitations.

Teaching once again wiped out Friday. Five hours of seminar and student consultations will do that.

The coming week will involve going to Toowoomba again for the final set of data collection. And, I’ll be able to make a start on my first explicitly “Service Design” project, looking at self-check-in kiosks at the domestic airport.

And it’d be nice if I could finish my long overdue draft of a journal paper about the compression bandages for leg ulcers work that I did when I first started here.
